News from the Inspire Inclusion Seminar Tour

Thanks to our friends at PGL the Equal Adventure Seminar Tour has reached the parts of the UK that other tours simply do not reach.

The one day events have met with a positive reaction and helped participants take a functional positive approach to inclusion outdoor adventure.

For  many this has been the start of their involvement in the EA community.

New Website

For many of us, regardless of how much we love adventure and the outdoors, our lives are tied to the internet.  Well as a not for profit and charity, Equal Adventure is no exception.  Nested in between sewing machines and roles of webbing are computers dedicated to design of one sort or another.

Today was a great day for Felix, Kirsty and the design team who spend their time on a computer most of the time so that others can enjoy the great outdoors.  We have a new website, thanks to their hard work and support from our friends at Brightpearl, EA has taken a step further towards having a full digital presence.

Well done and thanks to the supporters and sponsors who have helped to make this happen.

Project “Wetwheels”

The Sailing season is well under way, and as I look around the studio, sewing room and office of Equal Adventure my eyes are drawn to set of A4 folders with RYA written on them.  RYA you land lobers ask?  Royal Yachting Association, for some of you new to Equal Adventure, you may not know that our roots lie way back in a research project based at Brunel University.

Some of the early research projects were for the RYA Sailability project.  Equipment, Access Standards ect....

So now mind wanders to inclusive sailors of note and I am drawn to the adventures of Geoff Holt and his project: Project “Wetwheels”

Check out Geoffs site, he is an amazing speaker and we are really lucky that Geoff has agreed to speak at the Equal Adventure Lecture 2012.

Get on the water, send us an image and if you have an adaptive sailing equipment problem then do let us know.

Thats all for now.  Best Suresh

Science for All - with Excites.com

Something to think about for the weekend.  I found science really interesting at School but, I suppose I was one of those 'double loop' learners.  I simply needed to know why, not what when or even how.  WHY should I learn this!  Of what practical use is it going to be.

Needless to say I only did just OK at School and it took until Art School and Design College for me to be able to look at science again in a practical and dynamic manner.

Well if you were in the office here in Dulnain Bridge this week then you would of heard a me chat to Neil of Excites who put Science into context.  Making science accessible is to me at the heart of learning about why we should take better environmental decisions.  So have a look at Ian's website, I think you will like it.

And best of all, all the science can be taught in the outdoors, now do I have your attention.

Have a great weekend from all of the team here at Equal Adventure.

New Attachment Kit for Kite 2 on the way

Following feedback from our friends at the Bendrigg Trust and others we have developed a new attachment kit with Lyon Equipment.  The new lanyard system will allow for infinite adjustment without having to un-clip a Mallion.  The new system has the added advantage of being less cluttered for the person using the harness.
